4 week course - An Introduction to Restorative Yoga with Jo

Beginning Wednesday 11th June 6.30pm to 8pm for 4 consecutive weeks concluding Wednesday 2nd July

This 4-week course will provide you with the opportunity to learn about and experience the practice of Restorative Yoga and it’s benefits on the body and nervous system.

This style of yoga is gentle and accessible. Bolsters, cushions and blankets are used to support the body in passive postures so that minimal effort is required to hold the position. The props support you to relax the muscles and mindful breathing continually guides you towards a place of stillness in the mind.

Restorative yoga facilitates deep rest and has been found to reduce the overall intensity and reactivity of the body’s stress response. It activates the rest and digest functions of the nervous system, meaning practitioners feel calmer and more balanced.

This short course gives you the opportunity to delve a little into both the theory and practice of why Restorative Yoga can be so healing and helpful. You’ll learn and experience:

  • How Restorative Yoga helps you become more connected to your body and the signals it sends you

  • How conscious, controlled breathing stimulates the Vagus Nerve and activates the Parasympathetic Nervous System to regulate the body and help manage stress

  • How mindfulness is a practice that improves over time with repetition

  • How passive, supported postures can help release tension stored within the muscles and increase your range of movement

  • How spending time in deep rest can be difficult but how, over time, resistance becomes less and the benefits more profound

This course is for anyone looking to explore a more gentle style of yoga; those looking to find a space to gently activate the body and quieten the mind; to take time for themselves to nurture deep rest and relaxation.

All props, cushions and blankets will be provided for you.

Investment £60 for all 4 sessions
